HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?

Lutherans are the oldest Protestant group of Christians in the world, the first to break off from the Catholic Church in Germany in 1517, when a Catholic scholar named Martin Luther took issue with some practices that seemed to deny the centrality of Christ for the Christian believer.

Lutherans believe in God as the creator of all that is, in the saving work and life of Jesus Christ, and in the enlivening presence and direction of the Holy Spirit. The spirit is at work in you right now as it has gotten your attention in some way and is pushing you into a relationship with other believers in that which we call the Church. God does that because He wants to be in a relationship with you--one that will simplify and bless your life.

Studies have shown that those who are serious about their faith live happier and healthier lives. We think that is true because of the comfort one finds in knowing he is part of something much bigger than himself, is exposed to higher ideals, knows the language of acceptance and forgiveness, is supported by a loving community, and has a higher purpose in life.

The goal of a fully functioning faith works best when one becomes active in a church, finding opportunities to serve, grow in knowledge, and feel a sense of belonging. When it becomes your desire to become a part of Friedens Lutheran Church, simply call the church office (402-476-3888), notify the Pastor, or check the appropriate box on the attendance pad next Sunday.

We are excited about the positive church experience we share here at Friedens. A great deal of love, generosity, and cooperation exists here and we have great plans for our future as we get ready for our 100 year anniversary in 2007. We are delighted to share the joy of our church with you!
